Many years ago, I attended a praise and worship concert in Singapore where nearly three to four thousand people gathered. I still remember that the final song that night was “Hallelujah to the Lamb.” The choir invited the entire congregation to join in:

“Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah to the Lamb, Hallelujah, hallelujah, by the precious blood we stand,

All nations, all tribes, all peoples and all tongues,
Give Him glory, give Him honour, give Him praise unto the Lamb, the Lamb of God.”

When the powerful voices of thousands filled the stadium, God’s glory filled the whole place. Standing still could no longer express the passion within my heart. I even felt goosebumps all over my body, and my knees weakened as if I were about to kneel down.

At that moment, I thought: if the praise of just thousands of people can be so overwhelming, how much greater will it be on that day when people from every tribe, nation, and tongue in heaven and on earth stand before Christ and worship Him together in one voice?

In September this year, the 3rd Global Hakka Gospel Conference was held in Kuching. Although I was unable to attend in person, while editing this special issue I saw the work of God among Hakka people in different countries and regions.

Not only do Hakka believers have a strong burden for their own people, but many brothers and sisters from other backgrounds, and even foreign missionaries, have also joined in Hakka ministry. How beautiful it is when believers in Christ are united in Him for the salvation of souls!

In the past, people often said that the Hakka people are “hard soil.” However, I believe that no soil is too hard to prevent God from continually sowing the seeds of the Gospel through His servants, and watering them with His enduring and patient love. When God’s time comes, this hard soil will bloom and bear fruit everywhere!

That song still echoes in my ears today, and it has become the deepest longing in my heart—that regardless of nation, race, skin colour, wealth or status, gender or age, whether Fuzhou, Cantonese, Hokkien, Henghua, Teochew, or Hakka… all will stand together before Jesus and honour the same Lord Christ!

On that day, this world will be filled only with a new heaven and new earth full of Christ’s glorious presence, and there will be no more “hard soil.”
